ABOUT About "Travel and Work"

Travel and Work is a collection of stories that offer a slightly different perspective from our usual work. It explores how IT Plus got started, the principles that guide our work, and our reflections on what kind of life—including our family life—brings us happiness.

IN 2012

Our first meeting was at Pension Amigo (
).

I first met IT Plus in March 2012 at "Pension Amigo," a Japanese-run guesthouse in Mexico City.
Though we call it a “meeting,” both Noguchi and Mizoguchi were traveling the world with their spouses for about a year, and we just happened to be staying at the same guesthouse for a single day. Since Noguchi was nearing the end of his trip and Mizoguchi was just starting his, I asked Noguchi for various travel tips. His presentation of his Africa tour was so compelling that I ended up joining the exact same tour he recommended—and that’s what led to the creation of IT Plus today (lol). Conversely, if we hadn’t had that conversation that night, IT Plus as we know it today probably wouldn’t exist.
Over the course of a year, Noguchi visited 31 countries and Mizoguchi visited 29. Although our travel themes and experiences differed, I truly feel that these experiences are undoubtedly paying off today.

After meeting in Mexico, Noguchi returned to Japan and launched his own business providing e-commerce and sales consulting services. Mizoguchi returned about 10 months later.
Noguchi, who served as a manager in the marketing and sales departments at Hewlett-Packard Japan, and Mizoguchi, a designer. We find it fascinating that two people from such different fields—who likely would never have met under normal circumstances—are now working together precisely because we crossed paths on a trip around the world.
We founded IT Plus in 2014. As of 2024, we have been in business for over 10 years. To mark this milestone, we created this site to reflect on IT Plus’s journey and philosophy to date.
If you’re interested, please feel free to stick with us until the end.

WORK STYLE

Work whenever and wherever you want.

IT Plus was founded in 2014. Our office is in Harajuku, but we’ve been working mostly remotely since before the pandemic. Mizoguchi, in particular, has only been to the Harajuku office about 30 times in the last 10 years, lol.

The fact is, the fact that we both had children shortly after starting our companies has had a major impact on the flexible work arrangements we have today.

I'm thinking about how to sell and present
.

WORK STYLE
01

We tackle challenges in e-commerce, web, and sales organizations—sometimes as directors, sometimes as the right-hand person to executives or business leaders—and we’re deeply involved not only in concrete planning but also in actual operations and day-to-day work. That’s our style.
That’s why we use the term “how to sell.” We don’t just offer advice; we work together on specific “actions” that directly lead to results. In doing so, we also consider “how to present” the product.
Precisely because our areas of expertise are completely different, we are able to work together by complementing each other’s strengths, and we gain new insights with every project.

In addition, Noguchi and Mizoguchi have three and two children of the same age, respectively. In addition to work time, they also want to spend time with their families and children while they are still young. For this reason, it was essential for me to have the freedom to work the way I do now.
I believe that having a family and children is one element that expands my thinking about work and things.

Noguchi usually travels with his family.
It seems somewhat wasteful to try to strictly separate work and personal life, whether on weekdays or weekends. Of course, I think the idea that “digital detox is important” and “you should forget about work on your days off” is valid, but that should depend on each person’s individual style. When you’re involved in creative work, completely clearing work from your mind can even feel inefficient.
This is because, when the boundary between work and personal life disappears, you often gain access to special experiences and information.

For example, through connections with acquaintances and friends met through work, you can embark on experiences with your children that you wouldn’t normally be able to have. Unlike experiences curated by providers who prioritize safety and avoid risks, these often offer a glimpse into authentic local life as it truly is. In this environment, children gain a raw, firsthand sense of the world that they wouldn’t experience through typical tourism or organized programs.
These are experiences unique to rural areas that you simply can’t find in the city. It is precisely because we work in this way—blurring the lines between work and personal life in a positive sense—that we can build up a wealth of special shared experiences both domestically and abroad. I believe that this kind of hands-on learning is what will be most important for children, even in a future driven by AI.

In a good way, let's blur the lines between work and personal life.

TRIP & WORK

It seems that creativity is proportional to the distance traveled.

Just looking at the company name “IT Plus,” you might think we’re a very tech-focused company, but in reality, we have many “analog” aspects that value the real world. We believe in seeing things with our own eyes and visiting the places that matter. Just as IT Plus has its roots in a trip around the world, we’re always on the move.(Mainly Noguchi, lol)
At Tawawa, we visit farms in South Korea several times a year. In Yamanashi Prefecture, we built our own greenhouse with the guidance and help of a super grape farmer we know. And at Shimanami Brewery, we regularly visit Onomichi and the Shimanami Kaido.

Recently, as photography has become a more integral part of our website production work, we’ve had even more opportunities to visit locations in person.
When you travel and your surroundings change, the things you see and the experiences you have shift as well. This leads to new sensations and emotions—and ultimately, to new ideas and ways of thinking.
We believe that traveling and changing your environment is an essential step toward discovering possibilities you might never have encountered otherwise.

trip around the world

IT Plus has traveled not only within Japan but also around the world through our work and projects.
To name just a few of the places we’ve visited, we’ve traveled to various countries—primarily in Asia—including China, South Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, India, and Bangladesh. Our experiences interacting with local people, cultures, and business environments have been a crucial step in broadening our values and perspectives.
The connections forged through these travels form the foundation of IT Plus today.

  • [ Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture ]

    Shimanami Brewery

A brewery located in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, overlooking the beautiful islands of the Seto Inland Sea. It offers a wide range of products, including "Shimanami Cat"—a series featuring mainly lagers as well as seasonal limited-edition items and brews made with seasonal fruits—and a variety of sour beers.

  • [ Kumejima Town, Okinawa Prefecture ]

    Kumejima Ruche

Driven by a desire to share the charm and local ingredients of Kumejima with a wider audience, we launched an e-commerce site offering carefully selected local products. After operating for several months, the site was closed due to the absence of a store manager.

CHALLENGE

Most
new ventures
fail.

I’ve invested time and money in several new ventures over the years.
I wrote business plans and put a lot of effort into launching them in my spare time between my main business—which focuses on sales and presentation—but unfortunately, most of them ended in failure lol.

Whether it was because we couldn’t devote enough time to it, there wasn’t much demand to begin with, or we simply lacked the necessary skills—there are, of course, many reasons why things didn’t work out—but I firmly believe that every one of those experiences has helped us grow and has been a valuable lesson.

OUR CORE

IT and
Design and.

As our company name, IT Plus, suggests, our core focus has always been on “IT” plus “design” since our founding. Surprisingly, however, we’ve never had any engineers on staff. It is precisely because we are an organization without engineers that we can provide IT solutions our clients can truly put to use. As IT and AI continue to evolve, bringing new ways to streamline processes and convenient tools every day, we constantly ask ourselves: What is truly necessary? We strive daily to find the answers—answers that vary depending on the purpose and circumstances.

In particular, I’ve been following “no-code” technology—which allows you to build websites and e-commerce sites simply by dragging and dropping—for the past few years. I believe it will become an indispensable tool for maintaining businesses and services in an efficient and appealing way.

IT

OUR CORE
01

The evolution of IT and AI
is
not a threat, but
a tailwind.

IT and AI are indispensable for the future of work. However, the question is not "use AI because it's great," but rather "how can we use it to contribute to our business operations and lead to business growth and profit," and "how can it enrich our personal lives?
AI is not just a tool to improve efficiency, but a means to reduce workload and focus on work and time that is truly valuable. AI is not just a tool for efficiency. By streamlining daily routine tasks and information organization, AI can help reduce workloads and enhance personal time.
I like to explore the use of AI for practical work and life, and I try out a variety of tools on a daily basis. So, here are some of the AI tools and services that we particularly recommend and find useful in practice.

NO CODE

OUR CORE
02

Web

E-commerce

Because it’s no-code, there are things you can do at
.

Even making minor changes or updates to the site requires the development team’s involvement, which takes up a lot of time and prevents us from operating the site as we’d like. On top of that, the costs and burden associated with security and maintenance are becoming increasingly heavy.
Faced with these common client challenges—and similar issues within our own company—we arrived at “no-code” as the solution.
It enables fast and intuitive operation even without specialized knowledge, while the tool itself ensures security and handles updates automatically.

While it depends on the scale of your business and your goals, I believe that—barring exceptional circumstances—using no-code tools is one of the best approaches for both planning your sales strategy and designing your online presence. From that perspective, we’ve decided to use “Studio” for websites and “Shopify” for e-commerce.
This might change in the future, but after testing several tools, these two emerged as our top choices.
I’ve come to realize that many issues we’ve accepted as inevitable—even while recognizing them as challenges—can actually be resolved by switching to no-code solutions.

OUR PROJECT

OUR FAVORITE

Do what you love with the people you love.

While I’ve had many failed new ventures over the years, there are two projects that have been successful. One is a project with family members, and the other is a project I started with like-minded colleagues I met through my work.
What these two successful (and ongoing) projects have in common is that they’re led by people who are truly passionate about their core concepts, and we’re actively involved in moving them forward.

While I spend most of my day working with clients on IT and design projects, I believe it’s crucial to dedicate time to in-house projects and collaborations with my colleagues to broaden our horizons and explore new possibilities.
And having both allows me to enjoy my work more than anything else. I believe that because each offers different insights, I’m able to cultivate the ability to apply what I learn from both to my work.

Succulent Specialty Store

tawawa

A succulent specialty store started by a family member who loves succulents. The concept of the store is "Time to enjoy yourself with succulents. The store imports seedlings from Korea and sells them under the concept of "time to enjoy yourself in harmony with succulents. We are in charge of the overall sales strategy, branding, and creative production, including the e-commerce site.
In 2024, a plastic greenhouse will be built in Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, and we will start curing and selling imported seedlings. We are planning new initiatives in the future.

PROJECT 02

Craft beer

Shimanami Brewery

The project was originally launched by Matsuoka, a brewer, Sugino, a creative director, and Noguchi and Mizoguchi of IT Plus, who worked together on the Yamanashi Brewery project. Matsuoka and Sugino are from the same hometown of Hiroshima, so they established a brewery in Onomichi. We are in charge of branding, business start-up, and website management support.
Our concept is to create a beer experience that suits the Japanese people. We pursue the ideal craft beer with a focus on the best lagers. Winner of the World Beer Awards (WBA) 2024 in Japan.

OUR THEME

What does it mean to "live happily"?

So far we have talked about work, family, and ideas, starting with our trip around the world. In the midst of all this, we have always been thinking about our featured theme, "living a happy life. Of course, everyone has their own definition of happiness, and we believe that it is something we decide for ourselves. For those of us with small children now, it means cherishing family time and sharing various experiences together, sometimes in public and sometimes in private. To work in the areas we love with the people we love.
We feel that this is a happy way of life for us now.
Now that 10 years have passed, I feel that we can do what we wanted to do 10 years ago.

With our past experiences and failures as our foundation, we will expand new connections with our unique vision and style, and take on the challenge of the next stage. We want to pursue values that will resonate in the coming age, and we want to carve out a new future together with our colleagues who resonate with our ideas. With this in mind, we will take the next step forward.

So, while this was a site full of self-indulgence that probably didn’t offer you much of value, if you’ve read this far, I’d like to sincerely thank you for sticking with me until the end!
We look forward to your continued support of IT Plus.
